Cadillac Miller-Meteor

The Ecto-1's base has a convoluted history. The A.J. Miller Company made hearses and ambulances, while the Wayne Corporation made buses. Until Wayne Corporation bought A.J. Miller. So, in 1959, Cadillac released the Miller-Meteor.

The Largest Tailfins On A Car

The tailfins that are present on the back of the Ecto-1 are one of its distinguishing characteristics. There are several vehicles with tailfins, but the Cadillac Miller-Meteor has the biggest tailfins of any vehicle.

Ecto-1 Was Going To Be A Different Car

The Cadillac Miller-Meteor, better known as Ecto-1, was not Dan Aykroyd's original Ghostbusters car. Instead, Ghostbusters used the 1959 Miller-Meteor was inspired by  The 1975 ambulance the Ecto-1.

The Designer Was Not Properly Credited

Stephen Dane created the Ghostbusters' proton pack, ghost trap, P.K.E. meter, and Ecto-1. Dane was miscredited in Ghostbusters. Dane's name was spelled Steven, and his title was "Hardware Consultant" rather than "Designer" or "Production Designer."
