In a bizarre law enforcement mix-up, a Bihar man was given a traffic challan for not wearing a seatbelt while riding a two-wheeler!

According to PTI, Krishna Kumar Jha, a scooter owner, was perplexed by the ticket he received last week for an out-of-class traffic infraction that happened in the state's Samastipur district in October 2020.

“On April 27 I was going to Benaras (Varanasi). When I was on the train, I got a message that a ₹ 1,000 challan has been issued against my name. " Krishna Kumar Jha asserted.

What adds to the confounding mystery is the SMS's claim that the fine for seatbelt violation had already been paid. Jha claimed he had no recollection of being stopped for not securing his seatbelt while riding a scooter.

The traffic police have attributed it to manual error, despite the fact that they are still unsure who the challan's intended recipient is. It turns out that even e-challans aren't infallible.
