Downshifting to a lower gear can help slow down your car, as the engine will help to slow the car down by using the resistance of the transmission. This can be done by pressing the clutch pedal and shifting the gear lever to a lower gear. Keep the clutch pedal pressed down while doing so.
If downshifting does not slow down the car enough, you can also use the emergency brake to help slow the car down. Pull up the emergency brake lever or press the button on the center console to activate it. Do so gradually and in a controlled manner to avoid skidding.
As you attempt to slow down the car, keep an eye out for any potential obstacles such as other vehicles, pedestrians, or obstacles in the road. Try to steer the car away from them as best as possible to avoid a collision.
