What is BSEs?

BS-I, India's first set of emissions standards, introduced in 2000. An attempt to control vehicle emissions, with the goal of lowering emissions of hydrocarbons & CO.

BSI emission norm

In 2001, India introduced BS-II to enhance vehicle emission control which targeted reduced CO, HC emissions, and imposed NOx limits for a cleaner environment.

bSII Emission norm

In 2005, BS-III raised emission standards, strengthening limits for CO, HC, and NOx, a necessity step towards better air quality and human health.

bSIII Emission norm

The 2010 introduction of BS-IV attempted to further reduce CO, HC, and NOx emissions in addition to lowering particulate matter (PM) and sulphur content in diesel fuels.

bsiv emission norm

In April 2020, BS-VI, with strict emission limits, particularly for PM and NOx, was implemented, alongside low-sulphur fuel to minimize environmental impact.

BSVI EMission norm

The transition from BS-I to BS-VI reflects India's strong commitment to combating air pollution which required advanced vehicle emission norms and cleaner fuels to protect the environment.
