The weekend's auction winner's identity was kept a secret. In Dubai, a wealthy bidder paid a record-breaking 55 million dirhams (Rs.123 crore) for a rare car licence plate.

According to Emirates Auction LLC, plate number P 7—which at first glance appears to be the number 7 by itself with the P offset—was sold on Saturday during a charity auction. The 1Billion Meals Endowment, a global food aid initiative led by Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, will receive the proceeds.
